Former Xavier star and UConn football quarterback Tim Boyle will be transferring, Jim Fuller of the New Haven Register was first to report. Boyle finishes his Huskies career with just one touchdown pass in 275 pass attempts.
However, the Middlefield native will be most remembered for leading the Huskies to the upset over previously unbeaten Houston this season at Rentschler Field at Pratt & Whitney Stadium.
Incoming is former SEC CB Tre Bell (Vanderbilt). Bell will have one year of eligibility remaining after sitting out 2016. Bell was originally a commit to Florida, before the Gators rescinded their offer after Bell did not work out at a UF camp.
Bell, a hard hitting corner, was a highly sought after recruit, noted as the highest rated CB in the mid-Atlantic region his senior year. He had 19 offers including Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
See Bell’s highlights below:
Continuing the busy day, the Huskies picked up their 15th commit of the 2016 class, a preferred walk-on, Teddy Allmendinger:
