2017 LB Recurit Olakunle Fatukasi Took in Practice Today in Storrs

fatukasiIn addition to the former players that were in attendance at this morning’s practice in Storrs, there were also some potential future Huskies. Included in that group was 2017 LB Olakunle Fatukasi, who is the brother of current defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi.

From his comments, it was clear the Brooklyn, NY native, enjoyed what he saw.

“I liked the practice, it was really intense and competitive,” he said inside the Burton Family Football Complex. “The defense was really going at it and you could tell they really wanted to compete.”

UConn is no stranger to Olakunle, as Foley has been a standout in Storrs. He is a regular at all Husky football events.

“I’m always at the games, at the spring games,” he said. “I know more about UConn than any other school.”

After receiving an offer from Syracuse yesterday, Fatukasi holds two offers, including one from Rutgers. He also visited Penn State in recent weeks. He knows he needs to improve his play and even called out some areas he wants to work on before getting to the college level.

“I need to be more agile, get faster, bigger and stronger,” he said.

At 6′ 2″ and 205-lbs, Olakunle was impressed with UConn head coach Bob Diaco.

“He has a lot of energy, I like that,” he confirmed. “He’s jumping around and you feel he wants to be in there with the team on the field. He gives everything he has to his players.”

Fatukasi, who graduates in 2017, has one final year of high school left at Grand Street Campus High School, but is anxious to settle on his college decision.

“I want to make a final decision soon,” he said. “It will be real soon.”

Stay tuned on this one, as the Huskies should be active with Fatukasi.
