OPENING STATEMENT:
“I thought Saturday that we had a shot in the third quarter when we got it to 28-17. We just came out to start the second half and scored, they didn’t, but we just couldn’t get anything going offensively to put the ball in the end zone. We moved the ball, but just couldn’t convert. Our defense played really well there in the third quarter in holding them down, but we could never get that score to put that scare in them to make it 28-24. We gave up some big plays in the fourth. Now we get a chance to go to Boston and play Boston College in a great venue at Fenway Park, a great experience for our kids. We play an outstanding school in Boston College, a team from the ACC. We are going to work to keep getting better each and every week and continue to build the program in the direction we want it to go.”
WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT WHAT SCOTT FROST HAS DONE & HAS UCF GOTTEN RESPECT THEY DESERVE NATIONALLY?
“I think Scott has done a tremendous job since he’s been there at Central Florida. He’s doing it the right way and I do think they deserve more respect than what they are getting. Any time you are undefeated, I don’t care, this is a very tough league and to be undefeated at this point in time in the season is hard to do. Just look at it. There’s not many people that are undefeated. We have really good teams in this conference and to me, they should be ranked higher and getting more consideration and praise than what they are, but that’s the way the system is set up right now.”
UPCOMING MATCH-UP WITH BOSTON COLLEGE, EVEN THOUGH IT’S NOT A CONFERENCE GAME, SEEMS LIKE AN OLD SCHOOL, NORTHEAST RIVALRY?:
“I think it’s great and wouldn’t have a problem playing Boston College every year. We were in the same conference before and they were fortunate to be able to move to another conference, but I think it’s great for northeast football and something moving forward, I hope we can do that. To have the opportunity to play at Fenway Park is good for the region and good for both schools.”
NOT SURE IF YOU’RE A BASEBALL FAN, BUT TALK A BIT ABOUT PLAYING AT AN HISTORIC VENUE:
“I’m a big baseball fan, it’s the sport I liked the most growing up, but I’m a [Baltimore] Orioles fan from living down there so many times. I’ve been to Fenway many, many times and enjoy going to that place, watching games and it’s a great venue. They’ve played football there before and it’s going to be different with both teams on the same sideline, but kids probably don’t understand and appreciate the history of a lot of things nowadays because of all the things that they have, but for guys like myself who are baseball fans and appreciate history and understand the things that go into it, something like this is really neat. Having the opportunity to go in there, be in that locker room, come out and play on that field knowing that the NFL played games there before, to me it’s neat to have that experience.”
AFTER THE GAME, SCOTT FROST WAS EXTREMELY COMPLIMENTARY OF THE UCONN PROGRAM, HOW’D THAT FEEL?:
“I know Scott, but I didn’t hear what he had to say or didn’t see any of the comments afterwards, but I just know that he’s a very good football coach and a class act. He’s somebody I enjoy being around because he does things the right way.”
YOU STUDIED A LOT OF QB MCKENZIE MILTON LAST WEEK, WHAT MAKES HIM SO DYNAMIC?:
“With McKenzie, you can see that he knows where to go with the ball. He’s well-schooled and has that ability to read the coverage, take what’s there and to me, watching tape, he identifies things very, very quickly. A lot of that is probably what’s happened with the coaching and also how he probably prepares for games. I think he also has a really good sense if it’s not there, to pull the ball down and just go with it. He has good athletic ability and it looks just to me, now I’m not sitting in their meeting rooms, but he’s a guy that really prepares very, very well and has the skillset to go with it. The preparation he puts into it because the ball comes out quick, it goes where it’s supposed to go, he’s efficient and effective doing those things. It’s a combination of his ability to prepare and the ability of Scott to put him in position to take advantage of his skillset.”
